Qualifying students are guaranteed to transfer to University of Illinois Grainger College of Engineering, Illinois Tech, Valparaiso University, and other top universities. Transferring as a junior with all the credit you’ve earned at City Colleges can result in significant savings for tuition and fees. Our partnership with these 4-year institutions will also give you a clear and guided pathway to a high-quality, equitable education in engineering or computer science.

The City Colleges of Chicago School of Engineering has partnered with the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois to offer guaranteed admission to U of I through the Engineering Access Alliance.

Illinois Tech – Armour College of Engineering and College of Computing

This partnership creates a seamless transition for students looking to earn a bachelor’s degree at IIT, with an option of working toward co-terminal degrees (bachelor’s and master’s) within three years after transferring to IIT.

IIT Dual Admission Benefits

  • Guaranteed admission to major of your choice
  • $30,000 annual scholarship to IIT
  • Option to enroll in select IIT courses at IIT while completing an AES degree at City Colleges
  • Access to IIT resources: library, student clubs, gym, etc.
  • Academic and professional advising at both IIT and City Colleges
  • Access to accelerated master’s program at IIT

IIT Dual Admission Requirements

  • Complete an associate degree (AES or AGS) within three years of the date of initial enrollment at City Colleges, in addition to the courses outlined in the suggested sequence for the intended major at the College of Engineering at IIT.
  • A minimum 3.0 graduation GPA in all courses taken at City Colleges.
  • Students’ standing in the program will be evaluated at the end of each semester. Students who do not maintain a 3.0 GPA may no longer be eligible for program benefits.
  • High school senior or a current City Colleges student with at least 30 technical hours remaining before transfer.

Valparaiso University College of Engineering

The City Colleges of Chicago School of Engineering’s partnership with Valpo allows students to transfer with junior status to study Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Civil Engineering.

Valpo Dual Admission Benefits

  • Guaranteed admission to major of your choice
  • Up to $37,000 in annual scholarships to Valpo
  • Programming to support future engineering careers through mentoring, speakers, and career exposure
  • Academic and professional advising at both Valpo and City Colleges
  • Special consideration for Valpo’s honors college, Christ College, for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher

Valpo Dual Admission Requirements

  • Complete an associate degree (AES or AGS) at City Colleges, in addition to the courses outlined in the suggested sequence for the intended major at the College of Engineering at Valpo.
  • A minimum 3.0 graduation GPA.
  • No grade lower than a C in technical courses.
  • Students’ standing in the program will be evaluated at the end of each semester. Students who do not maintain a 3.0 GPA may no longer be eligible for program benefits.
  • High school senior or a current City Colleges student with at least 30 technical hours remaining before transfer.
